The El Presidente cocktail was created in Cuba in the early 1900s and it's likely that it was named in honour of president Mario Garci Menocal. It was one of Cuba's most popular cocktails during the 1920s when many Americans made the short trip to the pre-revolutionary Cuba to escape prohibition.
