Thomas Hardy's Ale was first brewed in 1968 by the Eldridge Pope brewery to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the author's death, intending it as a one-off. It became an annual, vintage-dated barley wine that was bottled and meant to be aged for years. Production was discontinued in 1999 when the brewery closed. Its back!

Intense and complex, with notes of candied and alcohol-soaked fruit, dried figs, fresh tobacco and chocolate. Incredibly dense yet soft, a silky warmth accompanies bitter orange marmalade, dried fruit and chestnut honey.
